I've always thought Pitou was a her, I was very, very confused when I was reading the manga and the translation changed six hundred times. I'm glad the current animation cleared up the misunderstandings. I believe that the confusions came from Pitou speaking with "Boku" (A masculine term in japanese) So the early translations went by female due to appearance, and then things started getting confusing from there. I also kinda agree with the guy who said something about genderless... but I guess if there can be a queen of the ants there can be other females as well, so i'd go fem for the official gender.
Great work by the way. :3 We have waaaay too many interests in common by the way (Gintama, HxH, Magi.... blaaaarrrgh)
NOOOOO -btws im watching the hunter x hunter 2011 version not the old one- WHY DID U DRAW HERRRRRR SHE FRIGGENN KILLED KITE</333333333333 HE WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS. i wanted to die after seeing that ): this is an awesome drawing but NOOOOOOOOO I HATE HERRR
S/He was supposed to be gender-ambiguous from the get-go. The English manga chose "he" for this reason, as calling him/her an "it" wouldn't get the point that the ants are just as "human" as we are across.
I love this fanart of Pitou!! It's so amazing~ xD I just love him so much! xDD And wait. Did they really make her a girl in the 1999 version ?? I thought they just made him more girly but still retained his real gender. -.-"
